The intent of this ILC/PT is to provide a means for the participant to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of participant practices, training, and measurement uncertainty relating to testing, inspection or calibration of 3 Dimensional Fixtures or Parts.
This ILC/PT Kit consist of a custom rectangular artifact. The test involves the use of a CMM to complete multiple measurements. Participants will measure up to a total of four (4) features (1x Sphere, 1x Cone, 1x Ring Gauge, 1x Plug Gauge) resulting in 14 unique measurements including X-Y-Z Coordinates, Diameters, Height and Cone Angle. Measurements range from 1.0 to 11.0 inches and approximately 35 degrees of angle. Expected resolution is 0.00001 in and 0.01°. All features to be measured using a least-squares fitting algorithm (LSQ). All Dimensions are expressed in inches; angle are expressed in degrees.
Participants are expected to be familiar with the care, handling, fixturing, testing, inspection or calibration of 3 Dimensional Fixtures and Parts, have appropriate lab equipment, software, environment, fixturing and appropriate measurement uncertainties for similar devices.
