The purpose of this ILC/PT is to give organizations an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in the calibration of a sound level meter using appropriate equipment, procedures, and their ability to follow measurement instructions. This ILC/PT Kit contains a sound level meter. Participants will use their lab practices to measure the characteristics of a sound level meter by generating their own levels. Measurement values will be appropriate for measurement of similar devices.
This kit contains an Extech Model 407736 Sound Level Meter. Participant will generate the following test points (100 Hz, 1 kHz, 8 kHz) at 50dB and 100 dB and report the indication of the Sound Level Meter to 0.1 dB resolution.
Participants are expected to be familiar with making sound level measurements, have appropriate lab equipment, and have measurement uncertainties appropriate for measurement of similar devices.
