The intent of this ILC/PT is to provide a means for the participant lab to determine the appropriateness and effectiveness of practices, training, and measurement uncertainty relating to the ability of the lab to generate and measure infrared temperatures using a calibrated infrared thermometer. The participant infrared standard will be used as a source for all measurements.
This ILC/PT Kit contains an IR Thermometer with a wavelength (8-14) µm and adjustable Emissivity (0.1 to1.00). The artifact has a resolution of 0.1 C resolution and manufacture accuracy of ±1% of reading or ± 1 °C (whichever is greater). Participants are asked to use their lab practices to make 8 measurements of temperature between -20 °C and 750 °C.
Participants are expected to be familiar with calibration of, have appropriate lab equipment and have measurement uncertainties appropriate for calibration of similar devices.
