Help Wanted: Statistician – Proficiency Testing & ISO 13528 Specialist

Position Overview:
The National Association for Proficiency Testing (NAPT) is seeking a highly skilled part-time Statistician with deep expertise in ISO 13528, proficiency testing (PT), and advanced Excel-based statistical analysis. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting current design, analysis, and continuous improvement of interlaboratory comparison (ILC) and PT programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and validate statistical models for new and existing PT programs
- Develop detailed Excel-based tools and templates for data analysis and reporting
- Provide statistical oversight for report generation and participant performance evaluations
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to assess risk, resolve anomalies, and ensure technical integrity
- Assist in refining algorithms, including automated flagging for outliers, uncertainty contributors, and bias indicators
- Ensure conformance with ILAC, ISO/IEC 17043, and relevant international standards
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas, pivot tables, data visualization, and statistical functions)
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with ISO 13528 statistical methods
- Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty, metrological traceability, and statistical risk evaluation
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to explain statistical results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with accreditation bodies or PT providers
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17043
- Experience using other statistical software is a plus
- The ability to automate Excel processes using macros or VBA is a strong advantage
